Band Director Arrested for Inappropriately Touching 4 Girls, Offering One Money for Sex - Thomas Newton Khoe
And this one time, at band camp . . .
Well, this didn't really happen at band camp, but allegedly it happened at Chapman High School in South Carolina. According to cops, four girls reported that the school's long time band director had touched them inappropriately and even offered one of them cash money for sex. On a teacher's salary? Thomas Newton Khoe, 36, of Campobello, was arrested Monday on warrants signed by an investigator with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Khoe was charged with four counts of aggravated assault and battery, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of criminal solicitation of a minor.
Investigators said the allegations were first brought to the attention of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, Aug. 29.
The four girls, ages 15 and 16, had gone to school officials earlier in the day and made allegations against Khoe. Investigators said that the students told them the encounters started at about the beginning of the school year in 2006 and continued into this school year.

I have known this man for over ten years, this is not something that Mr. Khoe would do. It is completely out of character, and I think that the girls are lying. Besides, no one offers $5000, especially on a South Carolina teacher's salary. This is garbage.
My daughter just graduated from that school. Mr. Khoe was one of her favorite teachers. He is a sweet, kind, caring man. All of the students love him and any that I have talked to are standing by him. He would not do what they said he did - no way, no how! What next, will they see if he's lying by dunking in the local river?? The girls lied!

It is a shame how so many people treated these girls so badly. The only thing the girls wanted was for Mr. Khoe to stop his inappropriate behavior.
He pled guilty to inappropriate behavior, which was licking his thumb and leaving a thumbprint on a girl's sunglasses. How that got twisted into sexual assault I'll never understand. He did NOT, repeat, NOT plead guilty to offering money for sex.
It is a shame that the girls got treated badly, but what can you expect? There was absolutely no evidence whatsoever, just he-said, she-said. I still stand by my belief that the girls are lying. I bet it's some lawyer pride wanting to go after the school district now.
