Substitute Teacher Accused of Taping Kid's Mouth Shut
Ever wonder how teachers put up with a room full of screaming kids who won't shut up? Well, in at least one case, this subsitute found a way to keep at least one kid quite: tape. Here's more from the Caller-Times:
A 33-year-old Alice substitute teacher is facing possible criminal charges following allegations that she taped a 7-year-old elementary student's mouth shut.
Salazar Elementary School Principal Marina Garza said she asked the substitute teacher -- whom she did not name -- to leave the campus after another staff member reported the substitute had taped a second-grade student's mouth shut with cellophane tape Sept. 13.
"She was dismissed within minutes," Garza said.
The female student's mother filed a police report after the incident and child advocacy officials and investigators have taken a statement from the student, Alice Police Chief Danny Bueno said.
Alice police are investigating potential charges against the teacher, which could include injury to a child, Bueno said.
