Another day, another lonely middle school teacher accused of giving alcohol to an male student and then sexing him up. Don't these women visit DumbassDaily and see all of their teaching sisters getting caught? Apparently not. this time we have Melissa Monroe, 32, a math teacher at Bentonville High School in Arkansas who is accused of having sex with a male student, possibly on his 18th birthday, which might save her some jail time, but probably not her job. The whole thing started to unravel when Monroe sent a text message to another teacher on February 14 that said "Help! I've made the worst decision of my life. And I don't know what to do." At right, Melissa Monroe's mug shot picture. Here's more from The Morning News:
A 32-year-old female Bentonville High School teacher accused of having sex with a student may have believed the sex was legal because the boy turned 18 that day, according to records filed in the case Wednesday.
Melissa Gayle Monroe of 7 Largley Lane in Bella Vista posted a $5,000 bond Wednesday afternoon for release from the Benton County Jail.
Bentonville police arrested Monroe on Tuesday on charges of second-degree sexual assault and furnishing alcohol to a minor. She is to be arraigned March 31 before Benton County Senior Circuit Judge Tom Keith.
The young man went to her house on a January evening while her husband was out of town, according to a probable cause affidavit submitted by Detective Mark Jordan. The boy later told police they had sex and he stayed the night.
Monroe was suspended with pay from the district, school officials said.
According to the affidavit, Monroe sent a text message to a fellow teacher at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 that read, "Help! I've made the worst decision of my life. And I don't know what to do." Monroe said that January night she was drinking and texting with a student. She said the student wanted to come over but she told him no. Eventually, he came over and they had sex three times.
The fellow teacher guessed which student.
Later that evening, Monroe texted, "You don't hate me do you?" and "At least he was legal. Haha," the affidavit says.
On Feb. 16, Monroe texted she was going to a birthday party for another student, although the fellow teacher warned her not to go.
Tuesday morning, the fellow teacher went to Principal Steve Jacoby and police were summoned. The student was interviewed and confirmed he had sex with his teacher. The student claimed she invited him over that night and he drank a couple of her beers, the affidavit says.
Monroe initially denied the allegations but then admitted having sex with the student, the affidavit states. Police asked her if the boy forced himself on her, and she said no.

its makes me sad that people make her out to be a horrible person. people are acting as if she poured the alcohol down the kids throat. i am a student on Mrs. Monroes and she is an amazing teacher who got me into liking math. the new teacher is a dipshit.
i completely agree. Mrs. Monroe was my math teacher in the 9th grade.. and she helped me more than any teacher ive ever had. she took time and helped me understand what she was teaching the best she knew how. personally i still admire and look up to her for all of the positive things she did.. and the positive out weighs the negative by far. shes not a horrible person at all.. sometimes great people make not so great decisions.. its human nature.. we all make mistakes.. but whats important is realizing the mistakes we make and trying our best to do better, and not go down that same route again. and as far as im concerned, not all the blame should be put on Mrs. Monroe..
the student is at fault as well.
I also had Mrs Monroe as a teacher but that does not stop me from thinking that everything she did was wrong. She has to children and a husband and then not only did she dishonor her children and husband she dishonored her school and students. She knew perfectly well that having relations with a student is uncalled for and she did it anyways she acted like a slut and that is all there is to it. I think she deserves to get into trouble. I just feel bad for her family.
I had Mrs. Monroe for 2 years and I am not at all surprised at this outcome. Lots of students enjoyed her class because she was not strict with disciplining. She threatened a lot but never did anything more than talk with someone in the hallway. I never learned anything because she allowed many students to make their comments and interrupt the class. Now I talked in that class as well, but me and many of my friends could see that she favored certain students and got a bit too invested into their personal lives.
