Couple Arrested for Scamming Free Meal Claiming Worms in Salad - Tiffany Vance, Christopher Egnatz

It seemed like the perfect crime . . . and they would have gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for those pesky kids and their dog! Actually, it was a Applebee's waitress that caught Tiffany Vance and Christopher Egnatz last week, in an alleged scam to get a free dinner. According to police, toward the end of the couple's meal, Vance claimed she found worms in her salad, made a scene at the restaurant, and then walked out without paying their $57 tab. They would have walked free, except that Vance left her purse behind and when the waitress opened it up to look for identification, she found--surprise!--a container containing grubs, maggot-type worms that can be purchased at pet food storms to feed lizards and frogs.
The waitress called police, who were taking a report when Vance walked back in looking for her missing purse. Dumbass! She and Egnatz were both charged with conversion, unauthorized assumption of ownership of personal property of others. (Sun Times)
