Physics Teacher Mary C. Steck Arrested for Buying Heroin During Lunch Period, Returns to School

Is that dedication or stupidity? According to cops, Mary C. Steck, a physics teacher at Pittsburgh Perry High School left the school during the day and was caught in a drug buying sting. After being charged, she then returned to school as if nothing happened to teacher her classes . . . without the heroin, apparently. Wonder if that took the edge off her teaching style? Eventually the cops, realizing Steck was a teacher, notified the school. Here's more from the Post-Gazette:

Mary C. Steck, 51, of the North Side, a Perry teacher for about 12 years, was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Police who pulled over her sport utility vehicle said they found a syringe protruding from her purse and two "stamp bags" of suspected drugs inside.
The Pittsburgh Public Schools suspended Ms. Steck with pay and took a drug-sniffing dog through her classroom, but no drugs were found there, district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said. Ms. Steck's salary is about $72,000, representing top-scale pay for a city teacher with a bachelor's degree.
A passenger in the SUV, Roger A. Bushell, 45, who shares a Baytree Street address with Ms. Steck, was charged with possession of suspected crack cocaine. Mr. Bushell is not a school district employee.
In an affidavit, city Detective Michael Molitaris gave this account:
Police had the 2300 block of Atmore Street on the North Side under surveillance Wednesday, after a resident complained that young men posing as candy sellers were peddling drugs instead. Ms. Steck drove to Atmore about 1:10 p.m., and Mr. Bushell got out and approached a male who had been observed loitering on the street. Mr. Bushell counted out money, handed it to the other person and accepted "small white objects" in return. The SUV drove away. Detective Molitaris radioed to other detectives, who stopped Ms. Steck's vehicle in the 800 block of Marshall Avenue.
One detective asked Ms. Steck to step out of the vehicle, noticed the syringe and asked whether she had other needles in the purse. "No, just stamp bags," she replied, pointing at a paper towel folded inside the purse. The bags of suspected heroin were marked "Blade."
Mr. Bushell dropped a small plastic bowl as he got out of the SUV. It contained suspected crack cocaine. Police did not take the pair into custody, and Ms. Steck returned to Perry, on the North Side, to finish the school day. Ms. Steck had told the detectives that she was a teacher, however, and police notified the school district.
School officials summoned Ms. Steck to the office with about five minutes left in the day, ordered her to leave and told her not to return yesterday, Ms. Pugh said.

Teacher Janmattie Singh Accused of Having Sex With Male Student, 15, AND His Two 18-Year-Old Cousins - Richmond Hill High

A Queens, New York, high school teacher is in trouble with the law after allegedly having sex with not one, but THREE young males, a 15-year-old males student and--according to reports--his twin 18-year-old cousins. A Queens high school teacher was arrested today on charges of statutory rape, after officials say she had sex with a teenaged student.
Special Commissioner of Investigation Richard Condon says Janmattie Singh, 22, is also facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child. Singh is an English teacher at Richmond Hill High School. Investigators say she had sex with a 15-year-old male student, and two of his family members.
Officials say the encounter took place off school grounds -- at a location in Brooklyn. The Department of Education says Singh has been on medical leave since November, and that her name has now been placed on the ineligible list -- meaning she can never work for the city again.

Teacher Alex Diaz, 37, Caught in Back Seat of Car With Girl, 17 - Bell High School

The old "I can't afford a motel room on a teacher's salary" ploy. Or maybe they just couldn't wait through that lengthy registration process they make you go through anymore. Either way, Bell High School (California) teacher Alex Diaz, 37, will likely NOT be around many underage girls in the future after he was caught in the back seat of a car in a parking lot with a female student. A Los Angeles Unified School District teacher has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a female student who was underage at the time, sheriff's officials said today.
Alex Diaz, 37, a Bell High School teacher, was booked May 22 at the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department station in Carson on suspicion of having sex with a minor, authorities said. He was held in lieu of $20,000 bail before immediately posting bond.
The girl, who turned 18 this week, was 17 at the time of the alleged crime, said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Sheriff's Department.
About 10 p.m. on May 21, sheriff's deputies found Diaz and the girl in the back seat of a car in a parking lot in Carson, Whitmore said. He declined to give further details, except to confirm that Diaz, who was found with a Bell High staff identification card, was later arrested.

Bad Chaperone? Woman Arrested for Being Drunk on Field Trip - Banning High School

Why didn't we have field trips like this when I was in school. Oh yeah, I know, because the chaperones would have been arrested for getting themselves (and some of us) drunk on the ride home! Which, it appears, is exactly what happened to a busload of students from Banning High School in California. How did it happen? Well, it was the Spanish Club and apparently no one realized what a bad idea it would be to visit a tequila factory. (Just joking . . . we think.) On the bonus side, it appears that this is not the first time this school employee (she works in the attendance office, whatever that is) has previously been arrested for DUI and they still let her drive a bus load of kids somewhere. Wait, do you smell something? I smell a brewing lawsuit, don't you? The good news: so far now one has accused her of having sex with any of the kids . . . at least that anyone is sober enough to remember. Here's more from the Press Enterprise:

A Banning High School employee chaperoning a club field trip Friday was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public, police said Tuesday. Banning police arrested Beaumont resident Lisa Racquel Arellanes, 32, after school buses returned from a trip to San Diego.

Police received a call at 8:52 p.m. that a bus was returning to campus with a school employee and an unknown number of students who possibly were intoxicated, a police report shows. When the three buses arrived, police determined that Arellanes, who police said works in the school's attendance office, was intoxicated and arrested her. She was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, authorities said. In 2007, Arellanes pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher, records show.

Arellanes is on leave pending the results of the district's investigation, said Banning Unified School District Superintendent Lynne Kennedy. Fourteen students admitted drinking, but the source of the alcohol is unclear, police Lt. Mike West said. West said the alcohol involved was vodka and a margarita mix.

Male Teacher Arrested, Cops Claim He Had Sex 20 Times Over Five Days With Girl, 18 - Allen James Cole, Travis High School

Well, I suppose if you're going to jail for having sex with a high school girl, you might as well get the most action in that you can, right? Well, at least that's what cops are accusing teacher Allen James Cole of Travis High School in Texas of doing. That's Cole's tired-ass mug shot picture at right.

Austin police arrested government teacher Allen James Cole on the charge of having "an improper relationship" with an 18-year-old Travis High School student.
Another teacher notified police about the inappropriate relationship between Cole and the student. According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by KXAN.com, the student told police she had met Cole, 34, several times at his apartment between May 6 and May 10. The student told police she had sex with Cole more than 20 times over that 5-day period. The girl was able to describe the furnishings in the apartment's living room and bedroom. A search warrant confirmed the details the girl identified.

Middle School Kids Expelled for Having Sex During Field Trip to Washington, DC - Mid-Carolina Middle School

For many kids, a trip to our nations capital, Washington, DC, would be a perfect end to the school year. For eight students at Mid-Carolina Middle School (South Carolina) that trip will be memorable not for the monuments they saw or the facts they learned about US history. No, for them, the biggest memory will be having sex in their hotel room . . . some for the first time. Here's more from WCSH:

Eight students at Mid-Carolina Middle School have been suspended for the rest of the school year, after district officials say they had sex while on a school sponsored field trip.
District officials say it happened in April, when the students, all aged 13 to 14 years old, snuck out of their hotel rooms the last night of the annual eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. and into other students' rooms to have sex. Officials say four boys and four girls were involved. School personnel found out about the incident last week when another student at the school told their parents about what happened and that parent reported it to the district.
District officials say there was an adequate number of chaperones on the trip: 20 for 70 students. The group of chaperones was made up of teachers, parents, district employees, and community volunteers.
Gray says a problem presented during check-in at the hotel made it harder for chaperones to monitor what went on during the night. Not all the students had an adult in the room with them as planned. The rooms were not close together, either, but were spread throughout ten floors; what appears to be a mix-up with the reservations. Gray says this is the only time in the history of the trip that they've found students having sex.

Teacher Sheila Vasquez Arrested for Inappropriate Relationship With Boy, 15 - Got Him Out of Class for "Special Lunch" - Renaissance School

And the female teacher sex scandals keep marching on! You can only imagine how anxious administrators are for summer to begin! The latest incident comes to us from the Renaissance School in Indianapolis, an alternative facility for kids in Grades 6-12 who are either having disciplinary problems or considered at risk of dropping out. Sheila Vasquez was a teacher at the school and allegedly got permission to take one of her 15-year-old male students out of class during the lunch hour on May 1st as a reward for a job well done in the classroom. But, instead of lunch, police say Vasquez took the lad back to her home where the pair had sex. At right, Sheila Vasquez's mug shot picture.

Investigators say she allegedly drove a 15-year-old male student to her home in the Castleton area May 1 and had sexual intercourse with him, said Sgt. Matthew Mount of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Vasquez, 37, faces preliminary charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, Mount said. According to a police report, the student told authorities Vasquez first had engaged in flirtatious behavior with him.
The two eventually concocted a plan, the student told police, for Vasquez to arrange to take the student on a special lunch outing that would be described to administrators as a reward for recent improvements in the boy's classroom performance. The two intended instead to go to the teacher's home for sex, the boy told police.

Teacher Joy Blackstock Charged With Having Inappropriate Relationship With Male Student, 18

I think we have a new "Leader in the Clubhouse" for the hottest female teacher involved in a sex scandal in 2008. (Check here for the complete list if you want to compare) Not a lot of details yet, but it does appear that the ball got rolling when the principal at Early High School (where Blackstock briefly worked as a music teacher), started looking into rumors that surfaced at the school of an inappropriate relationship between Blackstock and the student. A former teacher at Early High School turned herself in to police last week and was charged with having an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old male student. Joy Blackstock, 23, was indicted May 1 by the Brown County grand jury. The indictment was sealed until she turned herself in May 8. Blackstock, who used to teach chorus at Early High School, was released on a $15,000 bond.
Logs at the Brown County Jail show Blackstock was charged with improper relations between an educator and student, a second-degree felony. If convicted, Blackstock faces two to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Early High School Principal Bobby Fryar began investigating the case after rumors surfaced of an inappropriate relationship between Blackstock and the student.
Early Police Chief David Mercer said Fryar confronted Blackstock with the allegations on April 4 and she reportedly confessed to having a relationship with the student.

Teacher Julie Landry, 46, Arrested for Forcing Boy, 7, Unclog Toilet With Hands - East Iberville Elementary

No, she's not accused of having sex with with anyone, but Julie Landry, who used to teach first grade at East Iberville Elementary in St. Gabriel, LA may wish she had after this story gets out. Landry has been charged with cruelty to a juvenile after she allegedly forced a 7-year-old boy in her class to clean out a clogged toilet . . . with his bare hands. Seven-year-old Trevor Williams says he used the restroom at school, but used too much toilet paper and stopped up the toilet. Trevor's mother says what the teacher made him do to unstop it is not only disgusting, but unimaginable. "Trevor, you go up in there and you unplug it. Then, told him next time, if you do it again, she gonna make him pull it out with his teeth," says Alfrieda Williams, the victim's mother. Williams is very upset. She says last Wednesday at East Iberville Elementary, where her son goes to school, the unthinkable happened. "I made the toilet overflow with toilet paper and poo," Trevor says.
The seven-year-old says his first grade teacher made him unstop the bathroom toilet at the school with his bare hands. An affidavit we obtained states that Trevor's teacher, Julie Landry, intentionally forced the child to place his hand in a toilet containing human feces and urine. However, that's not where the embarrassment ends. "S--sssy (pronounced Essy) hands. Here comes sssy hands," says Michael Williams, Trevor's father. He says that's what the kids called his son the next day.

Houston Teen Arrested for Skimpy Prom Dress - Marche Taylor,

Is there such a thing as a prom dress that's TOO revealing? According to a poll of most high school boys, the answer is no (technically the most popular answer was "hell no") but officials at Madison High School in Houston have a different standard. According to them, the custom made dress worn by senior Marche Taylor was too revealing an they refused to let her enter the prom. (At right, Marche Taylor in her banned dress.) At that point, Taylor demanded her money back and when that didn't happen, someone called the cops and before she knew it, the teen had traded in her limo for a squad car.

Marche Taylor’s prom night experience wasn’t quite the norm. That’s because a night of dancing and hanging out with friends ended in a confrontation with school officials over her choice of apparel. The Madison High School senior was escorted out in handcuffs because school officials said her revealing gold dress was inappropriate for the school prom.
"I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress,” Ms. Taylor said as she showed it off to a KHOU-TV reporter on Friday afternoon. Madison High's prom took place at the Sugar Land Marriott, but Ms. Taylor got only as far as the lobby. When she tried to enter the ballroom, she was told her outfit violated a school dress code. "She shook her head, she was like, 'You are not getting into this prom,'” Ms. Taylor said. “We were arguing back and forth because I wanted to know why I can't get into my prom.”
Even after offering to provide more cover, Ms. Taylor was denied access. So she demanded her money back. Eventually, Ms. Taylor said, someone called police. Officers showed up, handcuffed her and escorted her out. A photographer snapped a photo of Ms. Taylor, in handcuffs, being led out of the hotel.
Madison High School Principal Aubrey Todd said said the dress was inappropriate and violated the rules. “It was revealing in such a way that it would not be appropriate for a prom," said Mr. Todd, who stood by the school official who denied Ms. Taylor access to the event.

Australian Teacher Lynne Tziolas Fired for Appearing Nude in Cleo Magazine

In the United States, if you're a teacher and appear on a fishing boat or on Howard Stern's radio show in a bikini (see earlier posts), you're likely to get fired. In Australia, a female teacher appeared nude in a magazine (and talked extensively about her sex life) and even though she got fired, she doesn't understand what all the fuss is about and--along with some supportive parents--she's trying to actually get her job back. A Sydney primary school teacher sacked for appearing nude in a women's magazine would gladly strip and pose again, her husband says. Lynne Tziolas, 24, is launching legal action to be reinstated to her position at Narraweena Public School, and her students' families are rallying in support by organising a petition.
Ms Tziolas was called into her principal's office on Friday and told her year-long contract at Narraweena Primary School would be terminated. "The first thing I knew was on Friday morning when a parent complained, and come Friday afternoon I was told not come back to the school" she told smh.com.au.
During an afternoon meeting with principal Julie Organ and local schools director Maurice Brennan, Ms Tziolas was issued with a letter signed by Mr Brennan. "I refer to an article in the magazine Cleo in which your photograph appears accompanied by an article about your personal life," the letter reads.
"Concerns have been raised by community members in relation to this article. I have concerns that this will seriously impact on your continued employment at Narraweena Public School," it read, before telling her she would be sacked. "I was told ... that my actions had breached the code of conduct," said Ms Tziolas, whose husband Antonios also appeared in the article.

Teacher Marie Jarry Forced to Resign for Wearing Bikini on Howard Stern Radio Show? - Thalberg School

Another week, another hot teacher in a bikini gets in trouble at school. This time it was a woman named Marie Jarry who taught second grade at the Thalberg School in Connecticut who appeared on the Howard Stern Show as part of an "Ugliest Guys, Hottest Wife" contest. Apparently, appearing on the show in a bikini was too much for the townsfolk and her husband claims Marie was pressured to resign. That her at right from the show. A second-grade teacher at Thalberg School has resigned after pictures of her in a bikini taken on "The Howard Stern Show" caused a local stir and left her feeling as if she had no choice, her husband, Aaron Jarry, said, according to www.howardstern.com.
Marie Jarry submitted a letter of resignation to the Southington Board of Education Monday, according to what her husband said on Stern's satellite radio program and webcast Thursday.
Jarry said his wife felt pressure from the Thalberg community when the pictures were released.
"We were OK with it, then the local media got a hold of it," he said. "There was just a lot of pressure." The school board accepted her resignation Monday.
School Superintendent Joseph Erardi said the district had no discussion regarding termination and accepted Jarry's resignation immediately. The resignation was submitted after Marie Jarry had spoken to a lawyer, her husband indicated on Stern's show.
"She submitted an irrevocable letter of resignation to me, which I accepted," Erardi said Thursday. "Any reports that she was terminated are not true. I do not intend to make any further comments on this matter, given it is a personnel matter."
The couple went on the show to take part in Stern's "Ugliest Man, Hottest Wife" contest May 1. Stern and his co-hosts named the Jarrys winners over two other couples and awarded them $5,000.
Family at the couple's Unionville home said Thursday evening that the couple won't comment further. Phone calls left earlier in the day were not returned.
During the appearance on the show last Thursday, Marie Jarry made several comments relating to her sex life with her husband as part of discussions with contestants.
Stern said on air that he believed she was forced to resign for the wrong reasons, saying that Marie Jarry had not taken her clothes off and had not said anything that he felt was controversial.

Exclusive: Teacher Stephanie Ragusa Arrested Fourth Time for Sex With Underage Boys, Holds Up Four Fingers in Mug Shot

We're not sure what the record is for female teachers being arrested for having sex with underage boys is, but according to investigators Stephanie Ragusa, 29, has now been charged for the fourth time for having an inappropriate relationship with an underage high school boy. And in all of her mug shots, she seems less than concerned about the mounting charges against her. In fact, The Dumbass Daily has obtained this exclusive mug shot (taken, apparently, after her latest arrest) from a source at the police department, showing what the image looked like before it was edited. Experts tell us they believe the hand gesture could be some sort of gang sign, but we think it could also stand for her fourth arrest for the same crime . . . and yet, she keeps on smiling, doesn't she?
There was also a report in the news that not only had Ragusa lied on her resume when she applied for her job at Davidsen Middle School, claiming she had graduated "suma cum laude" from University of South Florida, and in the process misspelling the common term for obtaining a high GPA. That's some fine fact-checking there, Lou.

Although Stephanie Ragusa smiled each time she was led of out jail, the 28-year-old teacher was worried about getting caught having sex with her student.

She was hesitant to talk about it when the victim called her. At the time, investigators were with the alleged victim, and taping the conversation. "I get paranoid about it," Ragusa told the teen "People like to take you down. People like drama."

According to the police report, when Ragusa first hooked up with her alleged victim, she was in a wheel chair and he was her escort. The report says he pushed the wheel chair into an elevator at Davidsen Middle School. That's where Ragusa told the teenager, "I can see you're shy, and I can fix it." Police say later that day she took him to her apartment after school, where she performed oral sex and they had intercourse.

During the phone conversation, Ragusa admitted she knew what she had done was wrong.

On the phone Ragusa tells the teen it's illegal. When the alleged victim asks why, Ragusa says, "You're under 18 and I'm over 18, and I don't know, whatever."

In the taped conversations she says "it would be all over the news and everything." When the teenager asks if she means it would be like what happened to Debra Lafave, another teacher who had sex with a student, Ragusa replies, "Yeah." When the teen asks Ragusa what she remembers about it, she says "it was fun."

And it was "fun" that could and wipe the smile off Ragusa's face and put her in prison for years.

Fort Bend, Texas Teacher Rebecca Ann Bramlett Pulled Over by Cops, Tells Them 16-Year-Old is Her Boyfriend - Baines Middle School

UPDATE: Teacher Caught in Car With Underage Boy Charged With Sexual Assault - We finally have the name of the Texas teacher who was caught with an underage boy in her car. Rebecca Ann Bramlett is a former Fort Bend Independent School District middle school teacher who is now charged with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy likely will have several additional charges filed against her. EARLIER STORY: No names have been released so far, but a teacher at Baines Middle School in Fort Bend, Texas has resigned after cops pulled her over this past weekend and found a young male passenger in the seat next to her. When asked, the as yet unnamed female teacher told them the lad was her "boyfriend" and that the two had an ongoing relationship. (Where are the COPS cameras when you need them?) The boy was released to his parents and now the teacher has resigned, according to the school district. Rich Kid Can't Believe Judge Convicted Him of Beating Girlfriend - Christopher Gardner Beaman

He's supposed to be a descendant of Henry Cabot Lodge, but Christopher Gardner Beaman, 24 appears to be headed to jail instead of fame and fortune. The blue blooded Beaman is pictured at right after hearing a judge convict him of attacking his girlfriend and NOT buying his lawyer's arguement that the young man had something called “intermittent explosive disorder.” Here's more on the story from the Boston Herald, which also has more "shocked" pictures of Mr. Beaman. Christopher Gardner Beaman, 24, a descendant of Henry Cabot Lodge, was sentenced to a year in jail after his petite former girlfriend told a rapt courtroom about the unprovoked attack that lacerated her liver and temporarily put her in a wheelchair.
“He hit me where all my vital organs were. If his fist had moved a little to the right or a little to the left, I would not be here today,” said the brunette from the witness stand at Somerville District Court on Thursday. “This would be a homicide proceeding.”
The woman, who asked that her name not be used, delivered the emotional victim impact statement in front of a courtroom filled with 11 family and friends of Beaman, a popular organizer of Boston Frisbee and flag football teams and political documentary groups.
Among Beaman’s supporters was his mother, Dr. Roseanna H. Means, who took out a restraining order against her son after he allegedly pushed her down stairs at her Wellesley home Dec. 10, 2006, court records show. That assault and battery case was continued for one year without a finding Jan. 30, 2007, and Beaman was put on probation for one year, court records show.
“I would like him to get help,” said Beaman’s 30-year-old ex, who was accompanied by her parents and attorney John G. Swomley. “If Chris does not want the help, at least take him off the streets. The next time, someone will be maimed or killed.”

Teacher Crissy Torcella Hisey Accused of Having Sex With Female Student - Vista Murrieta High School

Female teachers with male students are more common these days, but female teachers with female students seem to be catching on in popularity. For example, Crissy Torcella Hisey of Vista Murrieta High School in California who was busted last week for an affair with an underage girl. At right, Ms. Hisey's mug shot picture.

A Southern California high school teacher is in police custody, accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student.
Investigators said Crissy Torcella Hisey, 28, of Murrieta, and a 17-year-old girl confessed to having a sexual relationship for several months. The student had not been in any of Hisey's classes this year, but she had been her student in the past, officials said.
Hisey resigned Friday from her job at Vista Murrieta High School. She worked as an English teacher since 2004, according to a district spokesperson.

Teacher Fired for Being Part of Bikini Crew on Fishing Boats - Tiffany Shepherd, Port St. Lucie High School

Does the State of Florida pay its teachers enough? Apparently not, since Tiffany Shepherd, a biology teacher at Port St. Lucie High School had to find a second job to make ends meet and take care of her three kids. Unfortunately, that second job was as a bikini-clad mate on fishing tour boats for a company called Smokin' Em, and for some reason the school district didn't think that was appropriate. The 30-year-old blonde from Fort Pierce – who has a pre-medical degree - performs the usual duties of a ship's mate, but wears a bikini and fetches drinks and sandwiches for the men on board. She took the job three weeks ago to help support her three young sons following a divorce.
"I can make $600 [£300] in two days' fishing," she said. "That's a week's pay for me." Smokin' Em Charters, a Port St. Lucie-based company, has pictures of some of the bikini mates on its website - many of them partially nude - and says the only job requirement is to look "hot in a bikini".
Ms Shepherd, who said she does not go topless on the fishing boat, said she doesn't believe the job is inappropriate or at odds with her role as a teacher to high school students. "You don't wear jeans or slacks to go fishing," she said. "I wasn't doing anything wrong."
Officials said suggestive photos of Ms Shepherd on the Smokin' Em website could have posed a problem because they could undermine her effectiveness.
