Tammy Dobbin, of far south suburban Beecher, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a felony, after a sheriff’s deputy discovered the gun in her book bag. She is jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond. Dobbin had no business in court Tuesday, authorities said, but was accompanying her boyfriend to a paternity courtroom at 32 W. Randolph. .Woman arrested for trying to bring loaded gun into courthouse [Chicago Sun Times]
She was stopped at a security checkpoint outside a courtroom, like everyone else, and an X-ray machine revealed she had a solid metal object in her book bag, authorities said. Sheriff's Deputy Jennifer Matthews asked about it, but Dobbin said she knew nothing about such an object in her back, authorities say. When the deputy opened the bag, she found a 9mm — loaded with 10 live rounds and equipped with a laser pointer.

Woman Arrested for Trying to Bring Gun Into Courthouse
And not just any gun, but a loaded gun that--according to the accused--she left in her purse after "target practice." And she apparently didn't have time to removed it before accompanying her boyfriend to some kind of paternity hearing. Oh, now things are starting to make some sense . . .

Elementary School Teacher Busted for Running Meth Lab
Once again we ask, are we not paying our teachers enough money?
Police arrested an elementary school teacher and two others in a raid on a suspected meth lab in Kenner. Investigators found drug-making ingredients and equipment inside the house, along with a small amount of a clear substance that tested positive for crystal meth. "Was it just for personal use or were they selling," said Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway. "I would probably think if they're making their own use, they were probably trying to sell some of this drug."Elementary school teacher arrested in meth lab bust [WWL-TV]

Hot Baby in Car Alert: Greenville, Alabama
It's time of year again: when moms (and dads) pack the kids in the car, head to the mall (or liquor store or strip club) park and leave their toddlers locked inside while the temperature reaches 100 degrees. Why does this continue to happen when every time someone gets arrested CNN's Nancy Grace goes nuts and does a whole week of shows about the incident? (Maybe I'm the only one watching her show?)
An off-duty sheriff rescues a child from a hot car and the mother arrested. Greenville police tells WSFA 12 News officers responded to a call at Wal-mart concerning a child locked in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers observed the front passenger window had been knocked out of the vehicle and then saw a man holding a child, saying he was the one who made the call. Officer's say the off-duty sheriff noticed the child sweating and busted the window out with his baton. Thirty-minutes later, officers arrested found and arrested the mother of the child 28 year old Valla Leigh Furr from Luverne. Officers charged her endangering the welfare of a child.Baby abandoned in car, Mother arrested [WSFA]

"I'm told there was a lock on the refrigerator and there was more beer than food in that fridge," said Sgt. Ed Wessing, spokesperson for the Mesa Police Department.
Police said they saw the younger child go directly to the pantry and start eating dog food.
“We don’t know if this child routinely eats dog food, but I can tell you when our officers felt bad enough they went and purchased food themselves out of their own money and brought it to these kids, they ate it like they were extremely hungry," said Sgt. Wessing. "It's unbelievable, those poor little things. I just can't imagine," said Joann Duplessis, a neighbor.
Samantha Abernathy, 20, the children’s mother, was booked for child endangerment. Investigators said Abernathy, who worked at Centerfold Cabaret, claimed to have left around 2 a.m. on Sunday to help a friend. Court records show she returned at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday -- nearly 9 hours later -- and did not find anyone to watch her kids.
"How could you possibly leave a 2 and 3-year old alone for five minutes, let alone more than eight hours, and that’s what she's admitting to. It could be longer,” said Sgt. Wessing. “How many times has this happened?"

New York Cop Arrested for Pointing Gun at Woman During Road Rage Incident
You know the traffic must really suck if even the off-duty cops are pulling guns on other drivers out of frustration. On the other hand, it's hard to take seriously a witness who's given name is Chastity Cancel.
An NYPD cop was arrested Monday after he pulled a gun on a Bronx mother and her 2-year-old daughter during a road-rage incident while he was off duty, police said Tuesday. Six-year veteran Michael Gallow, 28, was suspended from the 28th Precinct stationhouse in Harlem on Monday after he was charged with menacing and possession of a weapon, cops said.
Chastity Cancel told Fox 5 that Gallow, driving a Toyota Camry, honked at her and flashed his lights as she tried to merge with traffic on Randall Ave. in Schuylerville, the Bronx. She said she let him know how she felt. "I stuck out my middle finger," she said. Gallow then pulled up to her car and pointed a gun at her head. "He said, "Do not curse me,'" she said. Cancel said she hid under her dashboard and Gallow sped away. "He said he would kill everyone in the car," she said.
