Female Teacher Arrested on Sex & Booze Charges Related to Relationship w. Boy, 17 - Tanya Thienngern

Another day, another middle aged teacher arrested for sex with an underage boy.

Tanya Thienngern, 37, surrendered to police a day after an arrest warrant was issued. Since May 10, Watsonville police have been investigating claims that she was involved in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

Thienngern denies she had a sexual relationship with the student, her Monterey-based attorney Joe Cisneros said. She was booked in Santa Cruz County Jail and released Wednesday on $25,000 bail. A court date was set for June 23.

Police Sgt. Saul Gonzalez said there is a "strong possibility" that Thienngern, an Aptos resident and English teacher, had sexual contact with and provided alcohol to other students, both on and off campus. But the arrest was based on allegations involving one student.

Police said she was arrested on suspicion of two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, both incidents with the same student; three counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors; one count of endangering the person or health of a minor; and one count of degrading, immoral or vicious practices of drunkenness in the presence of children, police said.

Former Mayor/Principal's Wife Accused of Sexual Contact With One of His Students, 14 - Linda Lusk

First off, this isn't the first time we've heard a lawyer say "The truth will come out" after a story breaks that makes their client look really guilty. Unfortunately, we can't ever remember a case when "the truth" really did come out later to exonerate someone in a case like this. It's just something lawyers say before they tell their clients to plead guilty. We'll see if this story proves to be the exception to the rule.

Second, there's lots of detail in this story, but here are the basics as we understand it:  Linda Lusk, 49, used to be the mayor or Prosser, WA and is currently married to the principal at Prosser High School, the same place where the boy she's accused of having inappropriate contact with goes to school (ouch!). According to reports the two exchanged increasingly inappropriate texts over several months, including an allegedly topless picture she sent to him. On April 28, the kid had only a half day of school, so he walked over to Lusk's nearby house where--according to police reports--she led him into the bedroom and "eventually touched his penis and asked him to touch her breasts, which he did." Later she felt guilty and went to talk to the boys parents, not realizing that junior had already likely bragged to his friends which got the attention of police who showed up at Lusk's house two hours later.

Lusk, a Tyee High School graduate, is accused of sexting and having sexual relations with a 14-year-old boy.  The allegations surfaced after Lusk herself contacted the boy's mother and informed her of the relationship Lusk her self described as "inappropriate," according to the request for a protection order against the former mayor.

But her attorney said there's more to the story.  "Linda has a story to tell, and I think it's pretty compelling story to tell. And some day, her version will be told. Now's not the time, but the truth of what happened will come out," said attorney Scott Johnson.  Johnson refused to elaborate as the investigation is ongoing.  "There's a lot of rumor and innuendo, but I can tell you 99 percent of that is just untrue," she said. "Once all the investigation is done and once Linda gets a chance to tell her side, the actual truth will come out."

According to the statement of probable cause, the boy was questioned by his parents after they heard from Lusk. "She stated to me that she had grown very fond of my son over the past few years, and that he was a very great kid," the victim's mother wrote in the request for a protection order. "She informed me they had been texting each other for quite some time, and it had really gotten out of hand the past few months. She told me that it was inappropriate on her part and that she was sick to her stomach."

The boy told his parents "he had been exchanging texts with the defendant for a period of time," and that she had "sent him one text with a picture of herself partially undressed," the statement said.  The boy said he "went to defendant's house during his lunch hour on an early release day" in April.  "The juvenile, the 14-year-old boy, went to the defendant's house, she brought him into the bedroom and had sexual contact at that time," said Benton County Prosecutor Andy Miller.

A 35-year-old Perkins High School English teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, according to Perkins police Lt. A.L. Matthews.  Superintendant James Gunner said two people came forward with complaints on Friday saying teacher April Seville, of Groton Township, was seen kissing in her classroom with a male student on June 2. Gunner and Principal Chris Gasteier went to police upon receiving the complaint.

“When we were notified of the accusations, we immediately contacted the school resource officer,” Gunner said.  Matthews said the teacher and student admitted the sexual relationship started in 2009 when the student was 16 years old. He added the relationship started out as a friendship at the school.  After the admissions, Seville was arrested and taken to Erie County Jail. She was booked Monday on sexual battery charges

Middle School Principal Fired for Public Intoxication, Leaving Her Toddlers in Her Hotel Room To Go Party - Carla Westbrook-Spaniel

A Fort Worth principal has been fired a month after her arrest on a public intoxication charge after she allegedly left her two preschool-age children alone at a Dallas hotel.  School trustees on Tuesday night voted to fire Carla Westbrook-Spaniel of Arlington. She had been principal of Elder Middle School for nearly four years.

Dallas police say the woman, whose children are ages 3 and 4, scuffled with a bouncer and officers when she was denied entry into a nightclub. Police later charged Westbrook-Spaniel with two counts of child endangerment.

Female Teacher, 35, Accused of Having Sex With Boys in 2009, Allowed to Stay in School All Year

It's taken almost a year for charges to be filed against middle school teacher Kelly Covic, so the school district did with their union rules allowed: they paid her to sit at home.

A Brunswick Schools middle school teacher slapped with charges after allegations of sexual misconduct.  Kelly Covic - a math teacher at Edwards Middle School since '03 - is accused of having sexual contact with two students in the spring of 2009. No word on the victims exact ages, but they are anywhere from the 6th to 8th grade.

The 35-year-old mother could not be suspended until now, because she hadn't been criminally charged. So Covic spend the entire school year on the payroll and assigned to her home. 
The district makes no apology for that, citing the need to remove anyone accused from contact with children. Now that she's been arrested and charged, termination proceedings are underway.

"This is a very sad situation. I mean, I've been sick to my stomach," said Brunswick Superintendent Mike Mayell. "It's not pleasant, but we acted appropriately and swiftly."

Man Falsely Reports Car Stolen, is Arrested Hours Later for DUI in Vehicle

You didn't quite think your clever plan through, did you? First, call the cops to report your car was stolen when it really wasn't.  Next, uh, drink some more. Then, the final brilliant step: drive the car you reported stolen around and get arrested for DUI.

A man told Rome police his car was stolen from a hotel while he was at the store on Saturday.
About three hours later, the same man was stopped by police while driving his car and charged with drunk driving. 

Ryan Lance Roland, 24, of 2005 Dean Ave. Room 315, was arrested in his 2001 Acura Integra after he was found traveling in it going north on Maple Street, according to the Rome News-Tribune.  Police searched for the car for several hours before Roland was pulled over, according to a Rome police report. Roland was arrested and charged with false report of a crime and driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Rome News.

A 23-year-old East Stroudsburg man had his 3-year-old niece with him when he robbed two Monroe County businesses Friday evening, state police at Swiftwater said.  Joseph M. Kiss showed a knife to a woman working at the the Dollar Plus Market, 5212 Milford Road, Middle Smithfield Township, before leaving with a cash drawer he took shortly after 7 p.m., police said.

The 39-year-old employee followed Kiss outside the store and took the drawer back when Kiss opened a car door to move his niece from a front seat to a rear seat. The worker then ran back to the store and locked a door.

"Teacher of the Year" Accused of Pressuring Boy to Have Baby With Her - Keenon A. Hall

It's one thing to teachers to have sex with underage boys. But to pressure them into a relationship so they can have a baby? That's way beyond the call of duty.

The teacher of the year at an Atlanta-area high school has resigned after admitting a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, a newspaper reports.  The student, a football player at Shiloh High School, claimed Keenon A. Hall, 29, had seduced him and had sex with him at a hotel, a friend's home and in the teacher's classroom during school hours during a six-month tryst, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.

Citing Gwinnett County Public Schools personnel records, the newspaper said Hall, an English teacher, pressured the student to have a baby with her to commit to the relationship and gave him a failing grade in retaliation when he refused.  The grade prompted the boy to report the relationship to school officials, the newspaper said.

More Drunken Sorority Madness: Urinating on Artifacts at a Museum! - Alpha Xi Delta

The sorority girls at Mid- American Conference schools must know how to party! In the past few weeks we have reported on the Pi Beta Phi sorority at the University of Miami, the Pi Beta Phi chapter at Ohio University, and now we head back to UM where the Alpha Xi Delta ladies may have topped them all. They had their spring formal at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. (For those of you unfamiliar with the Underground Railroad, it was used to move slaves from the South to free Northern states before the civil war.) At the NURFC, the girls started the night off drunk, got drunker and generally trashed a facility that houses some sacred historic relics. In fact, at one point, one of the male escorts decided to relieve himself inside an original log cabin slave pen that was moved from a Kentucky farm to the museum.

Apparently the men's room was either too far away or not historically accurate enough to him to urinate in. Needless to say, the antics in this case have now set a new low for drunken spring formals held by Greeks.

But somehow, we know there are more tales like this out there. Anyone care to share?

The March 26 affair at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center was organized by the Alpha Xi Delta sorority chapter at Miami University in Ohio. In an internal memo drafted three days after the booze-soaked event, a fuming Freedom Center official described how inebriated sorority sisters and their guests attempted to "urinate on our artifacts," defaced restrooms, and vomited "throughout our building." Describing the museum as a "place of education and inspiration for visitors," Rhonda Miller noted that, a day after the formal, staffers were "still finding hidden bottles of alcohol and new places where students had vomited from having too much to drink." Miller, the museum's private event coordinator, wrote that she even had to stop one young man as he was preparing to relieve himself on the side of a "priceless and sanctified" slave pen. The pen, pictured above, was moved from a Kentucky farm and reassembled in the museum's second-floor atrium (slaves were imprisoned in the two-story log house prior to their auction)

Special Ed Teacher Accused of Giving Special Head - Marla Gurecki-Haskins

Another day, another middle-aged female teacher willing to throw away a promising career as an educator for sex with an underage boy. Today's case comes to us from upstate New York where a 36-year-old special education teacher was accused of giving non-standard oral exams to a male student.

A Canandaigua school teacher is facing charges, accused of performing oral sex on a 17-year-old student.  36-year-old Marla Gurecki-Haskins is also accused of "Sexting" two other students. Police say some of the incidents happened in her classroom during school hours.  According to court paperwork, she's accused of "engaging in text messaging of a sexual nature that encouraged a sexual relationship between the defendant and two 16 year old male students."

Haskins is charged with official misconduct, two counts endangering welfare of a child and disseminating indecent material to a minor. The third charge is a felony.

Second Ohio Chapter of Pi Beta Phi Sorority Goes Wild at Spring Formal!

We're no strangers to drunken misdeeds at this site: they're pretty much our bread and butter. So earlier this month when the ladies--and we use the term loosely--at the University of Miami (Ohio) chapter when all crazy at their spring formal (disgusting details here) we weren't ready to condemn the entire college Greek system or even the sorority side of things for that matter. That is, until we came across this latest report from our old friends at TheSmokingGun.com, who published a letter from the head of the Parkersburg Art Center, the unfortunate location for a recent dance put on by the University of Ohio (Ohio) chapter of Pi Beta Phi. Not to be outdone by their sisters from UM, this gang went balls deep in the vandalism category, doing an amazing $47,000 worth of damage to the facility in ONE NIGHT. From the description in the letter, it sounds like the theme for the evening was a cross between "Animal House" and "Caligula" with a roster of atrocities to numerous to fully list here. But they did include:

Damaging the dance floor with booze
Defecating in urinals
Vomiting on the linen tablecloths, carpet, dance floor and pretty much any surface below face level
Tried to strip a female bartender and take her tip money
Engage in sex on the dance floor in front of a crowd
Engage in sex in a bathroom and breaking a sink
And last, but not least, broke several kegs and stole several tappers!

The bottom line? Looks like a combination of lawsuits, civil charges and possibly criminal charges. Congrats to everyone involved! (No mention of their night of fun at the PBP chapter's website.)

Abby Hayhurst, head of the Parkersburg Art Center, reported that catering staff witnessed "a couple engaging in sexual congress, while surrounded by a cheering throng," and that a bathroom sink was broken as a result of "one of your members and her date attempting to have sexual relations on it, an act which was witnessed by the event's caterer, who walked in on them." The art center, which reported the damage to the Parkersburg Police Department, is seeking about $47,000 from the sorority, which contends that the art center has exaggerated its damages. Last month, the Pi Beta Phi chapter at Miami University was suspended after a wild April 9 spring formal at a lakefront Ohio lodge. In a letter detailing damages and the sorority's wild behavior, lodge owner Lyndsay Rapier-Phipps noted that the students were "totally obliterated and behaving like immature children."

Elvis Impersonator Robbed by Man With Lip Tattoo

UPDATE:  We found a picture of this genius and his two unique tattoos. Gee, we wonder how the cops every found him?  All this guy needs is a pair of glasses and he can do his impersonation of Groucho Marx in the annual prison talent show.

EARLIER:  Want to start a life of crime? Better not get any tattoos on your face when one of your victims might spot it and turn in you. Especially if it's on your upper lip!

Police say a suspect in a Colorado home invasion had the evidence written all over his face. A tattoo on the upper lip of 20-year-old Anthony Brandon Gonzales led to his arrest last week in the home invasion of an Elvis impersonator in Pueblo County.  A witness told police that one of the invaders had "East Side" tattooed on his upper lip. Gonzales also has a "13" tattooed on his chin in the shape of a goatee. According to an affidavit, the tattoos were visible even though Gonzales was wearing a mask.

Gonzales was already in jail on a separate drug charge. Police have now charged him with the April burglary, too. Sgt. Eric Bravo said his distinctive tattoo led to the charge, saying, "it's hard to miss him."

Assistant Principal Sends Topless Pic to Boy, 14 - Lauren Shreve Tilo

You thought female teachers had all the fun? Not anymore! Now, even the administrators are getting into the act. The latest one is an assistant principal from Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida named Lauren Shreve Tilo. Her alleged crime? Sending a topless picture of herself to a male student who was only 14. At right, the mug shot picture of Tilo.

An assistant principal at a Florida middle school sent a topless photo of herself to a 14-year-old boy, police say.  Lauren Shreve Tilo, a 30-year-old assistant principal at Middleton High School in Tampa, allegedly sent a cell phone picture of her breasts to the teenager on May 7 after meeting him while playing the popular online game World of Warcraft, MyFoxTampaBay.com reports.

Tilo and the boy were initially just friends before they began exchanging text messages about "conducting sexual acts to one another," according to an arrest report filed in Manatee County, where deputies say they learned of the allegations when the unidentified boy told his guidance counselor.

Baltimore Continues to Pay City Employees While They're in Jail!

Yes, everyone's entitled to a fair trial and people who have served their time in jail should get a second chance, but what about those on the government payroll, convicted of a crime and serving time: should they still get paid for their jobs? Apparently the City of Baltimore thought so, until last week when someone blew the whistle on a convicted sex offender who did 8 months in jail and still got paid.

The mayor of Baltimore this week imposed new rules on city employees requiring them to report when they've been arrested after a convicted sex offender stayed on the city's payroll while serving time, a local news site reported.  Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake signed an executive order Monday that requires city employees to inform supervisors if they have been charged with a crime, reported the Investigative Voice, a Baltimore news website.

The move came in response to a report by the city watchdog showing that Dennis J. McLaughlin, an employee of the city's Department of Public Works' Bureau of Water and Wastewater, received $12,700 in sick leave, vacation and holiday pay by the city while serving an eight- month sentence for sexually abusing a minor, the site reported.

When McLaughlin ran out of sick leave, union officials approved 24 extra paid days from the "sick bank" -- a deal that the city's labor commissioner also approved, the site said.  When McLaughlin later returned to work, he was assigned to a sensitive position investigating water leaks in both private residences and schools, the site reported.

Female Student Teacher Arreste for Sex With Boy, 15 - Melanie K. Yusko

Melanie K. Yusko isn't even an official teacher yet (she was about to graduate from Kent State University this past weekend) and she's already working like a pro. Unfortunately, the kind of work Yusko was doing was not what the State of Ohio had hoped for when she became a teacher.

A former student teacher at Southeast High School who is set to graduate from Kent State University today has been charged with engaging in sexual conduct with a high school boy. Melanie K. Yusko, 22, of Highland Heights, was indicted Monday by a Portage County grand jury on one count of sexual battery, a third-degree felony. Portage County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Greg Johnson said the victim, a 15-year-old student at Southeast High School, told a friend about his encounter with Yusko.

Johnson said one incident of sexual conduct occurred between the victim and Yusko, “to the best of our knowledge.”  The encounter took place on April 7, according to the indictment. It did not take place on school property, Johnson said.

Florida Grandma, 87, Arrested for Selling Crack

There's probably no good age to be selling crack, but 87 seems kind of old to be a drug dealer, doesn't it? Then again, Ola Mae Agee, right, looks like a tough old bird.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Narcotic Investigators conducted an undercover operation in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and East Desoto Street over the past month. During that time, they captured 87-year-old Ola Mae Agee on video selling crack cocaine to undercover deputies.

That sale led to a search of Agee’s home today. A family member brought Agee to the Escambia County jail so she could turn herself in.
