Kids Call 911 from Back Seat of Jeep to Report Drunk Driving Dad

The good news? Michael Stout's young children know how to use a telephone to call 911 in an emergency.

The bad news? They used that knowledge to call the police from the back seat of dad's Jeep when he was driving drunk on New Year's Day.

In fact, according to the Albany Democrat-Herald, one of the kids was so concerned about dad's driving that when the vehicle stopped on the highway pullout near a ski resort, the kid jumped out without any shoes on and ran into traffic to get some help for the old man. Fortunately for everyone, someone did step in, grabbed the kid and put him in his own car, then walked over to Stout's vehicle and took away his keys until Oregon State troopers arrived and administer some field sobriety tests, which the driver failed. Stout was arrested on not only drunk driving charges, but also reckless endangering and reckless driving.

The kids were returned to their mother unharmed, but wiser.
