You know, there was a time when female teachers caught in sex scandals might go to trial (a lot of times they got wrist slap plea deals) but never had to worry about getting any jail time. The only ones might be those who were repeat offenders or who failed to comply with judges orders like not contacting the victims, etc. The simple reason is that they were often portrayed as the victims of aggressive young men who had only sexual conquest on their minds.
Unfortunately, in the era of cell phones and the Internet, it’s now much easier for cops to track conversations and texts and can now present evidence that shows–in many cases–that it was the female teachers who did the pursuing.
As a result, judges are getting much tougher on these ladies and it is more common now for them to get sometimes lengthy prison sentences. Case in point: Jennifer Fichter, 30, who used to teach English at Central Aerospace Academy in Lakeland, FL until about a year ago when it came to light that she had sex with not just one, but as many as three young men over a period of years going back to 2011.
Details from the Daily Mail:
A former Florida teacher accused of repeatedly having sex with at least three students has pleaded guilty to three dozen criminal counts.
Jennifer Fichter, 30, was set to attend a pre-trial hearing in Polk County Court Thursday morning, but instead she pleaded guilty to all 37 counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor.
Each charge carries a maximum of 15 years in prison. Fichter’s sentencing is scheduled for July 2.
Prosecutors said Fichter had sexual relationships with at least three 17-year-old students. One of the trysts resulted in a pregnancy, which Fichter then terminated.
Fichter was initially arrested last April after the mother of one of Central Florida Aerospace Academy’s juniors found intimate text messages from the teacher on her son’s phone.
Fichter was charged then with six counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, and was charged with 20 more counts in June when a second student came forward accusing the teacher of abuse.
The victim was 17 years old in September 2011 when Fichter started inviting him over to her apartment where they would cuddle on the couch and watch TV.
Prosecutors said Fichter, pictured in court in May 2014, had sexual relationships with at least three 17-year-old students.

He said the relationship turned sexual the next month and they went on to have intercourse about 20 times for seven months – sometimes in the boy’s bedroom while his mother was away, according to the arrest report.
Fichter was later hit with a dozen more charges when a third student contacted police saying that he and Fichter met for sex three times in the parking lot of a Lakeland apartment complex and three times near New Tampa Highway.
