Something going on in Mesquite, Texas that we should know about?
For the third time in less that three months a teacher in the small Texas town has been arrested on charges of having sex with a student, in this case an 18-year-old boy. This time it’s 40-year-old business teacher Deanna Reese who was charged this week with one count of having an improper relationship between an educator and student.

Police became involved on Thursday morning when a Mesquite ISD administrator contacted the school resource officer at Poteet concerning a tip district officials had received. Investigators interviewed the victim and collected evidence that resulted in an arrest warrant being issued.
Reese – who teaches business and was a faculty sponsor for the National Honor Society and Technology Student Association – was arrested at the school on Thursday afternoon and her bail was set at $25,000. She has been with MISD since 2002.
This is the third arrest of an MISD teacher on sex charges in less than three months.
On April 29, 34-year-old Luke Waley was taken into custody at North Mesquite High School after investigators determined that there was enough probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant on charges of sexual assault of a child. Waley – a math teacher at North Mesquite and a Frisco resident – was booked into the Mesquite jail with bail set at $15,000. Parrish said the victim was under 18 and two incidents allegedly happened in the previous 30 days.
Police on Feb. 18 arrested 26-year-old Mesquite High school teacher and coach Nigel Chandler. He was charged with one count of improper relationship between an educator and student and was released on $20,000 bond. He is accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old female student at MHS.
