Wow. The teacher sex scandals were so powerful at this New Jersey Catholic high school that they had to shut it down!
Not really. It just so happens that Cardinal McCarrick High School was shut down at the end of this past school year as a result of declining enrollment. At the same time, however, history teacher Fatima Grupico, 24, was allegedly having an affair with a 17-year-old male student.
More on the story from MyCentralJersey:
Fatima Grupico, 24, of Linden, was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey.
According to Carey, an investigation determined that Grupico allegedly had sexual relations with the student on a number of occasions at the school between May 4, 2015, and May 30, 2015. The school was closed by the Diocese of Metuchen in May because of declining enrollment.
Carey said Grupico is in custody awaiting bail to be set.
Grupico was charged during an investigation by Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective George Stilwell and South Amboy Detective Matthew Barcheski. The investigation began after school officials notified police.
