Dude! Teacher Busted for Being Drunk in Public, Matthew Todd Johnson

Now, we're not ones to judge people by their appearance, but does it really surprise anyone that this former surfer dude turned teacher might just like to party hardy?
According to cops, Matthew Todd Johnson, a composition literature and journalism teacher at Newport Harbor High School was arrested for being drunk in public. Johnson was reportedly at Javier's Cantina & Grill in Crystal Cove around 11 p.m last Friday night when workers at the restaurant asked him to leave for "being belligerent and using profanities." When officers arrived they found him staggering and with slurred speech, and yelling profanities and trying to get into a confrontation with some people. (OC Register)

Houston Teen Arrested for Skimpy Prom Dress - Marche Taylor,

Is there such a thing as a prom dress that's TOO revealing? According to a poll of most high school boys, the answer is no (technically the most popular answer was "hell no") but officials at Madison High School in Houston have a different standard. According to them, the custom made dress worn by senior Marche Taylor was too revealing an they refused to let her enter the prom. (At right, Marche Taylor in her banned dress.) At that point, Taylor demanded her money back and when that didn't happen, someone called the cops and before she knew it, the teen had traded in her limo for a squad car.

Marche Taylor’s prom night experience wasn’t quite the norm. That’s because a night of dancing and hanging out with friends ended in a confrontation with school officials over her choice of apparel. The Madison High School senior was escorted out in handcuffs because school officials said her revealing gold dress was inappropriate for the school prom.
"I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress,” Ms. Taylor said as she showed it off to a KHOU-TV reporter on Friday afternoon. Madison High's prom took place at the Sugar Land Marriott, but Ms. Taylor got only as far as the lobby. When she tried to enter the ballroom, she was told her outfit violated a school dress code. "She shook her head, she was like, 'You are not getting into this prom,'” Ms. Taylor said. “We were arguing back and forth because I wanted to know why I can't get into my prom.”
Even after offering to provide more cover, Ms. Taylor was denied access. So she demanded her money back. Eventually, Ms. Taylor said, someone called police. Officers showed up, handcuffed her and escorted her out. A photographer snapped a photo of Ms. Taylor, in handcuffs, being led out of the hotel.
Madison High School Principal Aubrey Todd said said the dress was inappropriate and violated the rules. “It was revealing in such a way that it would not be appropriate for a prom," said Mr. Todd, who stood by the school official who denied Ms. Taylor access to the event.

Texas Man Arrested for Trying to Cash Check for $360 Billion - Charles Ray Fuller

Most big city banks see customers come in with large checks all the time. A million dollars? No big deal, right? But when a scruffy looking young man shows up at your window with a check for $360 BILLION dollars (yes, with a B) that's likely to raise a few eyebrows, even in Texas. Here's more from the Star-Telegram:

An aspiring record label owner is singing the blues after he was arrested last week for allegedly trying to pass a $360 billion check at a Fort Worth bank.
Employees at the Chase Bank at 8601 S. Hulen St. grew suspicious after seeing all those zeroes (10 to be exact) and called the check's owner. The woman said the suspect, Charles Ray Fuller, 21, of Crowley, is her daughter’s boyfriend and that he did not have permission to take the check or cash it.
Fuller was arrested on suspicion of fraud, along with unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of marijuana after officers found less than 2 ounces of the drug and a .25-caliber handgun and magazine in his pockets.
While inside a patrol car, police say Fuller blurted out that he is starting his own record label and had been given the money by his girlfriend’s mother to help him start it.

Dumbass Criminal of the Year? Robbery Leaves Phone Number, So Manager Can Call Him to Open Safe - Chicago

The good news for police is that criminals are getting dumber. Take this robber in Chicago for example: he showed up at a local muffler shop and demanded money. The employees told him that he'd have to wait until the manager showed up to open the safe, so the guy left not one BUT TWO PHONE NUMBERS to call him back. Of course, they called the cops instead who met the robber when he returned later. Dumbass!

The incident started about 8 a.m., when the masked man, armed with a revolver, came in to Velasquez Mufflers For Less at 2600 N. Laramie Ave. and began demanding money, said Jose Sida, 37, a mechanic.
Employees told him they had little money and couldn't open the safe, so the man left two phone numbers for them to call when the owner returned with the combination, Sida said. "He said, 'You guys better call me because otherwise I'm going to come back to shoot you,'" Sida said. Instead, an employee called Chicago police.
Officers dressed in plainclothes came to the shop and told employees to call the man, Sida said. The man returned about noon, wearing the same mask and black clothing and officers told the employees to get to the back of the shop, Sida said.
A police source said the teen pulled a gun from his hooded sweat shirt and at least one officer opened fire. Zarate's injury was not thought to be life-threatening, the source said.
Mark Payne, a spokesman for the Independent Police Review Authority, said the man was treated at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for a gunshot wound. He said his agency was investigating the police-involved shooting but said that the inquiry would take six months to complete and that he could not release any details.

Two Female Teachers, Katie Frawley & Maureen Van Vechten, Accused of Giving Alcohol to Underage Boy - Morrisville-Eaton High School

How many female teachers does it take to get an 18-year-old boy drunk? That's a trick question, because we're not sure from the story if Morrisville-Eaton High School teachers Katie M. Frawley, 26 and Maureen E. Van Vechten, 36 actuallt got the senior male drunk or not, but cops believe that they did provide him with alcohol and we think there might be some law against that. No additional details (so no sense speculating that they were trying to have sex with him) but both ladies are supposed to be arraigned today (Wednesday) on charges of "unlawfully dealing with a child." Sounds like an odd kid of charge, doesn't it? Maybe that's all they can stick them with now. Stay tuned. Oh, and at right, the mug shot pictures of Katie M. Frawley and Maureen E. Van Vechten. Former American Idol Finalist, Jessica Sierra, Arrested for Probation Violation/Bar Disturbance

According to police, Sierra was arrested after causing a disturbance in front of Ybor City's Full Moon Saloon around 2:10 a.m. Saturday. Police say the club bouncers called over two off-duty officers when Sierra refused to leave the bar and started yelling at them.
The officers stepped in and told Sierra again to leave. According to police, once she was outside the bar, she started yelling at other bar patrons. The officers say they gave Sierra several warnings to leave, or she would be placed under arrest.
That's when police say she began physically fighting on the ground with a friend who was trying to calm her down. Officers say she then started walking away from in front of the bar and doubled back, violently shoving numerous patrons on the sidewalk while yelling profanities.
Officers on the scene say while they were taking her into custody, she attempted to push away and run off.
She also allegedly struck one of the arresting officers in the face. Once she was in custody and on her way to booking, police say Sierra went back and forth from being combative to apologetic.
Also according to police, she initiated racial slurs toward the officer, then allegedly offered sexual favors for her release. Witnesses say Sierra got sick once she was in the patrol car.

Man Arrested for Selling "Sex Lighter" to Students

Yes, you read that right, the guy sold "sex lighters." What's a "sex lighter" you ask? No, not a replacement for Viagra or something to take the place of foreplay. No, apparently it's an actual cigarette lighter, with one important difference. Here's more from the Hindustan Times:

The wholesale dealer of a 'sex lighter' was arrested in Kottayam on Tuesday for selling the product which was reportedly selling like hot cakes among school students. Kottayam superintendent of police S Sreejith told IANS: "When the lighter is lit, a picture of a lady in a compromising position pops out."
Priced at Rs15, the lighter was very popular among schoolchildren. The matter surfaced when a schoolboy gifted the lighter to a girl in his class. The girl's parents approached the police and they tracked down the wholesale dealer.
"He has been arrested and we have confiscated around 300 such lighters. The police have been asked to be on the look out for any shop selling this product," Sreejith said.

Man Arrested for Firing Nail Gun at Cops for No Reason - Lakewood

If you want to get the attention of the cops, you could call 911. Or you could flag one down as you see it driving by. Or, you could do like this Lakewood, California did and fire a nail gun at their car several times while they are making a traffic stop in your neighborhood.
Police in Southern California aren't sure what prompted a 32-year-old man to fire several times at one of their patrol cars, but when they chased him back into his home he refused to come out for 13 hours. At that point, officers fired tear gas into the home and sent in a canine unit which prompted him to flee out the back door where he was apprehended.
But it's like I always said: "Nail guns don't kill people, people kill people."(San Jose Mercury News)

Sisters, 10 & 12, Accused for Kidnapping Toddler - Enid, Oklahoma

Big time crime just went small time, as in pre-teen girls. If we had posted a story here before about two Oklahoma sisters, aged 10 and 12 who broke into a neighbor's home, stole their 1-year-old son and then demanded $200,000 for his safe return, you would have laughed at us for making up such a story! But not any more.
Enid, Oklahoma cops have picked up the young pair after their plot for instant riches started to unravel when their observant mother noticed the infant at their home and started asking questions (Great detective work, mom!) Before you could say John Gotti, the older of the two confessed, but then turned on her younger sibling and said it was all the 10-year-old's idea! Eventually the toddler's mother was notified and got her own child back, but not before police were called. Right now the girls have been taken into custody and are at a juvenile detention facility, although they haven't been formally charged yet. And, because of their young ages, it's not quite clear whether they will face serious penalties. (City News)

Video of Former Playboy Playmate Arrested for DUI, Stealing Cigarettes - Jennifer Lynn Jackson

Jennifer Lynn Jackson made the cover of Playboy back in 1989, and she still looks pretty good on camera today. That is, if you count her latest appearance on a police car dash-cam as she was being arrested for DUI. Here's more from FOX News:

Imagine going from the cover of Playboy to a police mug shot.
That's what former Playmate Jennifer Lynn Jackson did this weekend when she was arrested on suspicion of DUI after failing a field sobriety test, according to MyFoxCleveland.com. Jackson was on the cover of the April 1989 issue of Playboy.
Police also found a bag of marijuana in Jackson's pocket. And on top of that, she's being held for allegedly stealing cigarettes from a local store.
Jackson appeared in court Tuesday and plead not guilty to drunk driving and theft, the Web site reported. A police cruiser dash cam video shows Jackson taking the test.

Al Gore III Arrested on Marijuana, Drug Charges in LA - Former VP's Son in Prius

Talk about poor timing! Just days before his father launches one of the biggest concerts the world has ever seen -- Live Earth -- this Saturday, Al Gore III was arrested for speeding doing 100 mph in his gas saving Toyota Prius. (Do you get better mileage the faster you go in those things? Just askin'.) But that's not all: cops also searched his car and found pot, Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall . . . none of which he had prescriptions for. Oops. It's not the first time Al Jr has been in trouble with drugs: four years ago, while at Harvard, he was arrested with weed and did some probation and counseling. This time, it's likely to be worse. Al Gore's son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.
Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over at about 2:15 a.m., Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.
The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. They found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, he said.
"He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs," Amormino said.

Hot Springs, Arkansas Cop Joey Williams Goes Nuts on Teen Skateboarders - Go Skate Boarding Day, June 21, 2007

Not sure what's going on here, but it doesn't make the cop look very good. June 21 was Go Skate Boarding Day and, well, these kids in Hot Springs were skateboarding downtown when an officer, later identified as Joey Williams, tried to arrest one of them. He ended up arrested several of them. Here's more from Fox 16:

Hot Springs police are looking into an officer's actions after an Internet video appeared to show him choking three teens who were skateboarding near the city's famed Bathhouse Row.
Hot Springs police spokesman McCrary Means confirmed today that Officer Joey Williams stopped the teens on a city sidewalk June 21st. Means declined further comment, saying the department would release more information about the arrests later today.
The YouTube video, posted Monday, shows Williams apparently choking one teen and forcing him to the ground, while later chasing and wrestling two others while holding them in a headlock. Voices in the background can be heard asking Williams why he was arresting the youths.
In the video, Williams says several times that the teens violated a city ordinance by "fleeing" from police. Williams could not be immediately reached for comment.

Second Person Arrested in Case of Missing Pregnant Woman - Myisha Ferrell

The strange case of Jessie Davis gets even stranger. After a body was found over the weekend and her former boyfriend Bobby Cutts, Jr. was arrested, comes word that a second person has also been brought in: Myisha Ferrell, a former classmate of Cutts. Here's more from WTOL:

Two court appearances are scheduled today in the case of a pregnant woman whose body was discovered in an Ohio park. Bobby Cutts, Junior, will be arraigned on charges of murdering his girlfriend, Jessie Davis, and her fetus. Now one of Cutts' former classmates, Myisha Ferrell, faces an obstruction of justice charge.
Authorities searched Ferrell's apartment Saturday and arrested her Sunday, but haven't provided any details, saying that making that information public would hurt their case. A neighbor says authorities seized bottles of bleach and other items during a two-hour search.
Cutts is a Canton police officer who was arrested Saturday, the same day Davis' body was found, still carrying her dead, nearly full-term fetus. She had been reported missing June 15th.

Man in Tiger Costume Arrested on Rape Charges - James Wagner

From our "Truth is Stranger Than Fiction" department: a guy working as one of those sidewalk mascots that try to get your attention to pull into a business at a strip mall (you know what I'm talking about) was dressed up as a tiger . . . and also wanted by the police. Here's more from WKYC:

James Wagner of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, was dressed as a tiger, trying to lure passing motorists into stopping at a cell phone store in Solon.
A law enforcement task force in Pennsylvania got a tip that Wagner, 39, was the same man wanted on charges of impregnating his underage step daughter more than two years ago. Pennsylvania authorities contacted the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVTF), organized by the United States Marshal in Cleveland, Peter J. Elliott.
Members of the two task forces drove together to the store in Solon, and when Wagner waved them to stop into the store, he was confronted with the warrant.

Think they Tasered him? That would have freaked out kids driving by, wouldn't it? Just sayin'.

Gym Teacher Arrested for Duct Taping Teens Legs Together, Kid Breaks Arm - Matthew Foster

We often wonder how high school teachers keep from snapping with all they put with on a daily basis. Then one does, and you're even more surprised that more don't. This guy used duct tape on a kid's legs, then the boy fell and broke his leg. Can you say "arrest and lawsuit?" Here's more from the Long Island Press:

A physical education teacher at the Paul J. Gelinas Junior High School in Setauket was arrested at his Shoreham home on the evening of June 7 by Suffolk County police for allegedly taping a student’s legs together on June 6.
After the 15-year-old student arrived to Matthew R. Foster’s gym class late, Foster taped the student’s legs together over his shorts. The student then tried to walk from the locker room to the area in which class was already going on. In the process of removing the tape, the student tumbled into the bleachers, breaking his arm.
His parents were made aware of the incident and he was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he received medical attention for his injury.
Foster, 52, was detained and will be charged with endangering the welfare of a child, as well as assault in the third degree. Both charges are considered misdemeanors.

Grade School Teacher Arrested Trying to Take Heroin in Class - George McDonald, Bruns Elementary

So let's be clear right off: when the cops say George McDonald was taking heroin in class, they don't mean he had just "accidentally" brought the drug into school. They claim to have witnesses who say they saw the elementary school art teacher getting ready to shoot up. Here's more from News 14:

A teacher was charged Monday with having heroin at school, the same day school officials said he canceled class and locked the door to his classroom at a Charlotte elementary school.
Art teacher George T. McDonald, 50, resigned immediately from his position with the school district after being charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia, said Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Peter Gorman.
A Bruns Avenue Elementary School administrator was called after a teacher took students to the art classroom and found it locked. A sign on the door said classes were canceled through Friday.
McDonald had his arm strapped when the assistant principal unlocked the classroom door and found him, said Bud Cesena, head of law enforcement for the school district.

Mom Arrested Snorting Cocaine in Wal-Mart With 3-Year-Old in Cart

Another "Mother of the Year" nominee? This lady was caught on a security camera allegedly snorting cocaine with a straw while pushing her toddler around the store in a cart. Here's more from NY Daily News:

A Long Island mother was arrested at a Wal-Mart after she was spotted snorting heroin as she pushed her 3-year-old son in a shopping cart, police said yesterday.
Stacy Roe, 35, allegedly inhaled the powdered drug through a straw near the garden center of the Centereach store, police said.
Guards saw her on a surveillance camera and called cops.
"Security at Wal-Mart was viewing a surveillance video, and they surveyed her doing this, with the straw in her hand," said Sgt. Todd Barone of the Suffolk County Police Department.
Two plainclothes officers approached Roe about 6:20 p.m. on Saturday as she continued her shopping, officials said.

Lindsay Lohan Allegedly Arrested for DUI: "Usable Amount" of Cocaine Found in Car

Looks like someone's fallen off the wagon! Here's more from Forbes.com:

Lindsay Lohan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday after her convertible struck a curb, and investigators found what they believe is cocaine at the scene, police said.
Lohan, 20, and two other people were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 when it crashed on Sunset Boulevard around 5:30 a.m., Sgt. Mike Foxen said. It appeared Lohan was speeding, Lt. Mitch McCann said at an afternoon news conference.
Officers at the scene found a "usable amount" of a drug tentatively identified as cocaine, McCann said. He declined to say where the drug was found other than to say Lohan was not carrying it.
Lohan, who spent time at a rehabilitation center earlier this year, was driven in another car to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, McCann said. The two other people in her car were not hurt.
Officers received a 911 call about the accident and arrested Lohan at the hospital for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, McCann said.
She was released from custody because she was admitted to the hospital, police said.

Teacher Accused of Forcing Kindergartner to Eat . . . Barbecue Sauce?

There has to be more to this story or this teacher must have been having a really bad day. Here's more from the Quad-Cities Online:

A Metro East teacher has been charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly forcing a kindergartner to finish the barbecue sauce he had served himself at lunch, according to a report published on Saturday.

The 5-year-old boy's mother made the complaint to police on April 26, Bethalto Police Chief Alan Winslow told The (Alton) Telegraph. The mother told police her child gagged when forced to eat the sauce the previous day.

The complaint led to a misdemeanor charge filed April 30 against Parkside Elementary School teacher Deborah Lamere, 59, of Bethalto. A telephone message left for Lamere over the weekend by The Associated Press was not returned.

The newspaper obtained information about the case from police through a Freedom of Information Act request after hearing from parents. The parents said the boy was forced to eat sauce he'd squirted on his tray with a spoon in front of the teacher, The Telegraph reported.

CEO of HBO Arrested in Las Vegas for Assaulting Girlfriend - Chris Albrecht

Amateur boxing allegedly followed professional boxing at HBO this weekend. Here's more from KLTV:

Chris Albrecht was arrested Sunday, a few hours after a boxing match aired by his company.
Officers assigned to the fight reported seeing Albrecht fighting with a woman in the M-G-M Grand's valet parking lot. Police tell the Los Angeles Times that the fight got physical.
Albrecht was booked on suspicion of a misdemeanor battery-domestic assault and later released.

American Idol Finalist Arrested - Jessica Sierra Accused of Hitting Man With Glass
